CDC Water Chart for Backpackers and Travelers

Remember if the water does not taste good people will not drink it.  That is why I always use a carbon filter in the process.  I was on a backpacking trip and we had multiple methods of purifying water.  In the end everyone used my Katadyn Hiker because they liked the taste.  I use the Katadyn Hiker Pro and Chlorine Dioxide.  I also carry Iodine in case of emergencies.  It is faster acting 30 to 35 minutes.

"If the water is cloudy or colored, add 10 drops of iodine. Stir and let the water stand for at least 30 minutes before use." EPA
